The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has not got any specific instructions from the government regarding zone-wise lockdown.
It will implement such lockdown only after getting advice to do so from the relevant department based on scientific data and information analysis.
"The government has not yet told us anything specific on zoning and lockdown," said DSCC mayor Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh.
"We'll take next step after the government gives us the responsibility by analysing scientific data and information. I cannot declare any red zone on anybody's suggestion…," he added.
The south city father made the comment at a briefing after visiting the development work on Osmani Udyan in the city on Wednesday.
Replying to a query, he said the DSCC has undertaken some major projects to make Dhaka a green city. Osmani Udyan is one of them.
But the implementation of this park is very slow. The park is especially important because of its location between Nagar Bhaban and the secretariat.
"I've given some instructions so that the implementation of the park development project gets geared up," Mr Taposh mentioned.
People coming to the secretariat and Gulistan area from various corners of the country can spend leisure time in the park.
"We want to finish the development work by next year," the mayor said.
The DSCC is committed to gearing up the service and development activities of the corporation, he added.
