Women Affairs Department Director Fakhrul Kabir dies from Covid-19

Md Fakhrul Kabir, Director of Department of Women Affairs, died from coronavirus early in Dhaka Tuesday.

“He passed away at around 1:40 am at a city hospital in the capital,” said a press release from the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.

Joint Secretary, (Admin Cadre of BCS 13th Batch), Fakhrul was diagnosed with coronavirus in the first week of June and was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after his condition deteriorated and shifted to Square Hospitals on Monday.

Fakhrul Kabir’s wife also tested positive for the virus and is currently undergoing treatment at home, reports UNB.

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatunnesa Indira, Secretary Kazi Rowshan Akter, and State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain expressed deep shock at the death of Fakhrul Kabir.

So far, the country has reported 68,504 coronavirus cases and 930 deaths.

Altogether 2,735 new coronavirus cases were recorded in the last 24 hours after testing 12,944 samples at 52 laboratories as of Monday morning.
