Woman dies of dengue at KMCH

A woman died of dengue at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) in Khulna early Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Sandhya Rani, 55, wife of Bimal Saha of Tala upazila in Satkhira district.

Shailendranath Biswas, resident physician of the KMCH, said Sandhya Rani, infected with dengue, got admitted to the hospital on October 30 and she was undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital following deterioration of her condition.

Rani breathed her last at around 1:30am, he said.

With this, a total of 24 people have so far died of the mosquito-borne disease in the district, says a news agency report.

Some 151 dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals across the country in 24 hours till 8:00am on Saturday.

Since January, 96,462 people were hospitalised with dengue. Of them, 95,249 made full recovery.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research has received 248 reports of dengue-related deaths. However, it has reviewed 171 of them and confirmed 107 deaths.
