A mild cold wave sweeping over the northwestern regions of the country is likely to continue till Saturday, according to a meteorologist at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The weather is likely to improve slightly with a rise in temperature from Sunday, Aftab Uddin, meteorologist at Met Office, told the FE.

Temperature may drop again from December 26 with the possibility of another cold wave in January, he said.

According to Met Office, weather may remain dry with partly cloudy sky over the country in the next 24 hours till 9:00 am on Saturday and moderate to thick fog may occur at places over the country during midnight to morning.

Night and day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The lowest temperature was recorded on Friday at 8.4 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga while maximum temperature was recorded at 28.3 degrees Celsius at Teknaf. Mercury dropped to 13.4 degrees Celsius in Dhaka.

Ridge of sub-continental high extends up to West Bengal and adjoining western part of Bangladesh and seasonal low lies over South Bay.
