The US Embassy in Dhaka has issued a weather alert for its citizens as Bangladesh is gearing up for super cyclone ‘Amphan’.

It also urged its citizens to continue to follow the local media for updates and the Bangladesh Meteorological Department website for the latest signal announcements.

The embassy, however, remains open for businesses, it said in an alert message published on its website on Monday.

Formed in the Bay of Bengal, super cyclone ‘Amphan’ is expected to make landfall on Wednesday (May 20), in the vicinity of Khulna. There may be serious wind gusts, it pointed out.

The projected trajectory of the cyclone may result in residual effects primarily in the districts of Jashore and Barisal, the US embassy mentioned in the message.
