The US-Bangla Airlines on Wednesday repatriated 45 Indian sailors, who had been stranded here due to ongoing flight suspension, to New Delhi by operating a special chartered flight.
“Our chartered ATR aircraft left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) for Delhi at 11 am carrying 45 stranded Indian sailors,” a US-Bangla Airlines spokesperson told BSS.
The Indian sailors, stuck in the port city Chattogram, were brought to Dhaka first by a US-Bangla domestic flight this morning before they left the country by the chartered flight to the Indian capital, said Kamrul Islam, general manager (PR) of the airlines.
Indian high commission in Dhaka and foreign ministries and civil aviation authorities of both Bangladesh and India coordinated the evacuation of the sailors from here while Mumbai-based Sea Dogs Marine Services Private Ltd supervised the entire voyage.
Since the flight suspension, the US-Bangla has so far brought back 3,000 stranded Bangladeshis from India and Thailand while took back 28 Taiwan citizens home from Bangladesh, reports BSS.
