Graft in relief distribution: ACC to submit chargesheets soon

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will submit chargesheets soon in graft cases filed against those who allegedly embezzled government relief amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) shutdown.

“Four cases have already been filed in Dhaka, Manikganj and Bogra to this end. The commission has already directed the investigating officers to submit chargesheets immediately after completing the investigation of those cases”, said Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) chairman Iqbal Mahmood.

Responding to a reporters’ question in the capital, the ACC chairman said the ACC is acting as the prosecuting agency with the highest priority to ensure their highest punishment.

By ensuring the punishment of those criminals, the ACC firmly vows to implement the zero-tolerance policy on combating such corruption, he added.

In another query, the ACC chairman replied that concerted efforts can only help curb the COVID-19.
