Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam has sought apology from passengers who suffered due to train-schedule collapse on the first day of Bangladesh Railway’s Eid special service.

"We are sorry for this," he told reporters while visiting the Kamlapur Railway Station in Dhaka city on Friday morning.

Three to four inter-city trains took time to leave the station, according to the minister, causing passengers huge sufferings.

Mr Islam added that there will be no ladder on any train and if anybody travels on the train roof despite the risk, it will be his or her responsibility.

According to local media reports, he called on the people not to travel home on the train roof putting their lives at risk.

The minister hoped that there will be no crisis of train service during the Eid-ul-Adha as three to more trains will be added to the fleet by next July.

Railways secretary Md Mofazzal Hossain, director general Kazi Rafiqul Islam, among others, accompanied the minister during the visit.
