Khulna city polls: Councillor aspirant comes under gun attack

A BNP backed councillor aspirant for Khulna City Corporation (KCC) election was attacked by some unidentified gunmen at Jamuna Road in Khulna’s Khalishpur area on Saturday night.

Three miscreants riding on a motorcycle fired two rounds of bullets and hurled three handmade bombs on word no 7 councillor candidate Sultan Mahmud Pintu and his companions around 10 pm, said officer-in-charge of Khalishpur Police Station Sardar Mosharraf Hossain.

But Sultan Mahmud remained unhurt fortunately, UNB reported quoting the OC.

Police were trying to spot the offenders, the official said.

The KCC election is scheduled to be held on May 15.
