The newly-appointed 2,000 doctors have been posted to COVID-19 designated hospitals.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) issued a notification in this regard on Sunday asking them to join on May 12, reports UNB.
The circular says the newly-recruited doctors will have to work in COVID-19 hospitals or institutions until further notice.
Earlier on May 4, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification appointing 2,000 doctors as assistant surgeons from the 39th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination.
Meanwhile, coronavirus or COVID-19 cases in Bangladesh surged to 14,657 on Sunday after the health authorities announced the detection of 887 new patients in the last 24 hours.
Besides, 14 more deaths were reported during the period, taking the death toll in the country to 228.
