Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Fazle Noor Taposh on Sunday said that the negligence in duty by the DSCC officials won’t be tolerated.

He made the statement at the inaugural ceremony of DSCC’s cleaning drive at the Bottola Jheel in the city’s Khilgaon under DSCC’s ward number one.

“Mosquito menace, waterlogging, inefficiency in garbage collection and other issues remained unsolved due to lack of effective coordination among the departments of DSCC.” He said.

"Ultimately people are losing faith in the DSCC. So, I instructed the associated departments to reorganise the work plan. Any deviation from the new work plan or any sorts of negligence of duty by the DSCC officials won’t be tolerated as I am eager to relieve the city dwellers from this menace," said the mayor.

Speaking on the occasion, the mayor said that the cleaning of water bodies begins at 10 points in the DSCC territories as part of this programme, adding the cleaning drive will be implemented in 75 wards of the city corporation throughout the year to contain the breeding of mosquitoes.

Later, he released ducks in the Ramna Lake and reiterated his tough stance against corruption.

Public Works Secretary Shahid Ullah Khandaker, DSCC Chief Executive Officer Shah Md Imdadul Haque, Chief Health Officer, Brig General (Dr) Md Sharif Ahmed, Secretary Akramuzzaman and local councilors of ward no 1 and 20 were present at the programs among others.
