Incidents of lynching witnessed a drastic rise across the country in 2019 compared to the previous year, according to a report by an independent rights body.
A total of 65 were killed by mob beating in 2019 while some 37 people were killed in 2018, revealed the data by Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK).
The highest number of killings took place in Chattogram while no such killings occurred in Rangpur division, the ASK data said.
25 people were killed in Chattogram while it was 22 in Dhaka during the period, it added.
Apart from this, a total of 50 people were killed by mob beating in 2017, the rights body disclosed.
