'Highways are free from traffic jam'

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said there is no traffic congestion on the highways ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr as the countries highways are in the better condition.

“The countries roads and highways are in the best condition in the country’s history so that the Eid holidaymakers are not facing any traffic congestion,” he said.

The minister made the remarks while inaugurating Highway Police Command and Monitoring Centre at Meghna toll plaza area at Sonargaon upazila under Narayanganj district, reports BSS.

The minister visited Dhaka-Chattagram highway first time after his recovery from his illness.

The Awami League general secretary expressed his satisfaction and gratitude to almighty Allah and said: “I have backed from inevitable death for the love of people.”

 “We will build Police Command Camp in various place for the security of the passengers,” he said.

Replying to the remarks of BNP Secretary General on corruption, Quader said, BNP is a proven corrupt party as the country became champion in corruption in three times during the tenure of BNP.

DIG of Highway Police Atiqur Rahman, DIG of Dhaka Range Habibur Rahman, and Police Super of Narayanganj Harun-or-Rashid were present on the occasion.
