HC bars keeping public servants as OSDs for more than 150 days

The High Court has imposed a bar on keeping any public servant as officer on special duty (OSD) for more than 150 days.

The bench of Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury and Justice Shashanka Shekhar Sarkar passed the order on Wednesday, reports bdnews24.com.

The court also ordered to form a committee for reinstatement of the government officials, who have been working as OSDs for more than 150 days, and taking other necessary steps.

The bench asked the secretary of public administration ministry to form the panel, keeping a senior secretary of the government as the head.

A report will have to be submitted to the registrar general of the Supreme Court within 90 days after getting the copy of Wednesday's verdict.

In 2012, the High Court asked the government why making public servants officers on special duty without any specific reason and time limit should not be declared unlawful.
