The government will soon release the report of a probe body on two foreign fishing vessels, said State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Md Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru to Thursday.
The two vessels – FV Sea Wind and FV Sea View- entered the Chatoogram Port unlawfully in August 21 this year with Cameroon’s flags and eight crew members each.
But later they removed the flags and are currently staying at a jetty of Continental Marine Fisheries in the port city.
This minister came up with the information at a bilateral meeting at the ministry between Thailand Ambassador to Bangladesh Phothong Humphreys.
Mr Khasru informed the Thai ambassador about all details of vessels and its crew members, who belonged to the Thai nationals.
Earlier, Thai ambassador expressed his interest about the papers of the vessels and their crew members and over necessary action to this end.
The government’s notice said the crew members of the vessels sought to anchor at the port with a plea of requiring their repairs after containing illegal nets.
But later the Marine Fisheries Academy, port authorities and Coast Guard did not find any glitch of the vessels, which were scheduled to depart for Cambodia on August 26, but still they are staying there, the notice added.
