Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said the government is going to issue five million more ration cards for vulnerable families hit by the countrywide shutdown due to the coronavirus situation.
Committees have already been formed to list those most in need, she said while holding a videoconference with the government officials of Dhaka division from her official residence Ganabhaban on Thursday morning.
At the same time, she warned against any corruption and misappropriation in distributing relief to the poor amid the crisis.
Millions of people have become jobless across the country, as the shutdown announced by the government since late March in a bid to contain the COVID-19 outbreak continues.
