Gazipur district administration has formed a five-member committee over an explosion that left at least 17 people injured on the ground floor of a hotel in the city's Boar Bazar area early Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner ABM Shainul Islam formed the committee, media reports say without going into further details about this.
The explosion took place at Tripty Hotel around 2:00 am when they were getting ready to close it, according to some staff of the hotel.
Gazipur Fire Service and Civil Defence deputy director said four of their firefighting units rushed to the spot immediately after the explosion and extinguished it.
They also rescued a trapped security guard from the hotel, he said.
However, the fire service official could neither say immediately what triggered the explosion nor give the extent of damage in monetary terms caused by the fire immediately.
