Dubai returnee hospitalised in Sylhet with fever

A Bangladeshi man, who recently returned from Dubai, has been admitted to a hospital in Sylhet with fever and cold-related issues.

The Bangladeshi national, hailing from Kanaighat upazila, returned on February 29.

He was admitted to Ragib Rabeya Medical College Hospital on Wednesday with fever and cold related problems, said Civil Surgeon Premananda Mandal.

Doctors later recommended shifting the patient to Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital suspecting Coronavirus but he stayed at his home, UNB reported.

Then, he went to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital at night for treatment and the hospital authorities sent him to 14-day quarantine at Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital, Mandal said, adding that a medical board will examine him today.

Coronavirus, which originated in China’s Wuhan, has infected more than 94,250 people globally and caused 3,214 deaths, the vast majority in China.
