Nearly 67 per cent of houses and establishments in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas were found suitable environment for the breeding of Aedes mosquito.
Apart from this, the DNCC found Aedes larvae in 1,601 houses and establishments and fined those over Tk 2.41 million on Monday, the last day of the 10-day combing operation.
Earlier, DNCC launched a '10-day combing operation' on June 06 to prevent the breeding of Aedes mosquito responsible for dengue fever.
The drive continued from 10:00 am to 1:00pm every day.
A total of 13,368 houses, houses, establishments and under-construction buildings in 54 wards were inspected and Aedes larvae were found in 160 of them on Monday.
In addition, a total of 9,035 structures had a suitable environment for the breeding of Aedes mosquito on Monday.
It also realised Tk 449,000 as fines in 19 cases through different mobile courts on the last day.
Those areas were cleaned by DNCC cleaners. Workers also used mosquito repellents.
Owners of other homes also were warned.
Aedes larvae were found in abandoned tyre, bucket, flower tub, bottle, water meter, garage, water house, earthenware pot, broken mug, house floor, water tank, plastic container and roof drain.
The larvae were also spotted in yoghurt pot, abandoned commode, coconut shell, pot, basement and space between two houses.
The second phase of the operation will begin in the next month.
