DNCC evicts 550 illegal establishments in city

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Sunday conducted eviction drives in the city and removed some 550 illegal establishments from footpaths and roads.

Two separate teams, led by four executive magistrates of the DNCC, conducted the drives in city’s Uttara and Mirpur 14 areas, jailed one person and also fined Tk 210,000 for grabbing the footpaths and roads illegally. 

In Mirpur’s Bhasentek area, the DNCC executive magistrates A.S.M. Shofiul Azam and Mohammad Sajid Anowar jointly launched the drives and removed some 350 makeshifts structures and temporary shops.

In Uttara’s Jasim Uddin Avenue and Robindra Sarani, executive magistrates Mohammad Abdul Hamid Miah and Md. Zulkar Nayen jointly evicted 250 illegal establishments from the area and fined seven businesses Tk 160,000.

The drives and mobile courts will continue in the coming days.
