Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed a total of 3,445 cases against different modes of vehicles as people came out of their homes unnecessarily amid the coronavirus pandemic and countrywide lockdown.
The DMP also fined Tk 6.341 million from March 26 to April 17 across capital for violating the government’s social distancing measures as per the new Road Transport Act 2018.
Police urged the city dwellers not to go out without any need to stem the spread of the virus.
If the people do not pay heed the government’s order, the police will continue to take legal action against them, it warned.
