The Department of Social Services under the Ministry of Social Welfare has provided food and cash to some 196,000 people until May 11 amid the COVID-19 crisis.
Both the Ministry of Social Welfare and the National Social Welfare Council distributed a total of Tk 264.70 million in all districts and upazilas across the country.
Of the total, the ministry contributed Tk 30 million while the rest of the amount was given by the National Social Welfare Council.
Relief programme is also being carried out through personal donations of the officers and employees of the Department of Social Services.
