Police recruitment fraud: Two held in Gazipur

Police arrested two members of a fraud gang who took money from people with false assurance of recruitment as police constables.

Superintendent of Gazipur Police Shamsunnahar confirmed the matter at a press conference at her office on Saturday morning, reports UNB.

She said the arrestees were Sayed Mahnur Hasan Jewel, 32, and his younger brother Sayed Mahbub Hossain, 48, of Rajapur village in Boalmari upazila of Faridpur.

"They used to take money from candidates introducing themselves as my relatives," the SP said.

Police traced calls and arrested Jewel from Dhaka's Malibagh area on Thursday night. They arrested Mahbub from Mouchak area of Gazipur based on information given by Jewel.

Police also recovered fake admit cards of 15 candidates of 11 districts from the duo.

The fraud gang targeted meritorious candidates and took money from them with assurance of their recruitment as police constables, the SP added.
