‘BCL men’ stab youth at Rajshahi University

A young man was injured in an attack allegedly by some activists of Rajshahi University unit Chhatra League on the university campus in Rajshahi on Thursday.

The injured was identified as Tarek, 24, an employee of a shop near the RU campus and son of Aslam of Dharampur from Motihar area of the city.

The victim said Imtiaz, organising secretary of RU unit BCL along with two activists waylaid Tarek in the evening at Sabash Bangladesh ground on the campus and tried to snatch his mobile phone set and cash.

Being resisted, the BCL men stabbed Tarek with a sharp weapon, leaving him injured, UNB reports.

A patrol team of police then took Tarek to a local hospital for treatment.

Mahbubur Rahman, in-charge of RU police outpost, said Tarek was stabbed but it is not clear who carried out the attack on him.
