A total of 384 workers from 162 factories in six industrial zones were infected with coronavirus while four of them died till Tuesday.
Industrial Police prepared the data from information of six zones under its jurisdiction and there are hundreds of factories out of their jurisdiction in metropolitans and other areas across the country.
Labour leaders, however, claimed that the real number of infected workers might be higher than the statistics as good number of workers were working with symptoms due to lack of testing facility.
According to the IP data, out of 384 workers, 293 were from 91 readymade garment and textile factories outside Export Processing Zones, 60 are from 48 factories inside Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority.
The rest 31 were from 32 non-RMG factories, according to IP data.
Some 205 infected workers were from 61 member factories of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, 84 from 27 factories affiliated with Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association and four workers were from three mills of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association.
The highest 99 corona-infected workers are listed with IP from Narayanganj followed by 86 from Gazipur, 70 from Mymensingh, 63 from Ashulia, 58 from Chattogram, and eight from Khulna industrial belt.
Though apparel sector leaders repeatedly claimed that factory owners were taking full responsibility for treatment of their infected workers as per the instruction provided in the COVID 19 guidelines, labour leaders alleged workers were not getting required supports from their factories.
