The eastern side of a road connecting the bridge over the Narayanpur Kopotakho river in Chaugachha upazila of Jashore district has collapsed.
As a result, cracks have developed in different places of the road. Vehicles are moving at risk on the bridge.
According to the locals, the road connecting the bridge has collapsed due to the recent cyclone Ampan and heavy rains and cracks have appeared in various places.
The construction work of the bridge including the connecting road was completed in 2015.
Two years after the construction of the bridge, cracks appeared in the connecting road on both sides.
Debipur Bazar trader Zahidul Islam Zahid, who was travelling on the bridge, said the connecting road has been constructed in a very narrow shape.
Chairman of Narayanpur Union Parishad Joynal Abedin Mukul said the Upazila Engineer's Office and roads and highways department have been informed of the crack in the road but to not effect.
The locals demand quick action by the appropriate authorities for immediate repair of the road.
Chaugachha Upazila Engineer Abdul Matin said the road connecting the bridge belonged to the Roads and Highways Department.
Currently the roads handed over to LGD. The road at the junction on the east side of the bridge collapsed and sank into the riverbed, he said.
