Conviction rate in graft cases stands at 62.73pc until July

The rate of conviction in graft cases lodged by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) stood at 62.73 per cent until July 2019.

Besides, a total of 2,814 graft cases, lodged by ACC, are currently under trial in different lower courts across the country between January and July, according to the data provided by the anti-graft watchdog.

Of the total, 2,547 cases are now running at different courts across country as 267 cases were stayed by the High Court until the date.

Among those, 101 accused have been convicted, 50 suspects got acquittal and 161 cases were settled.

The number of graft cases under trial in different courts stood at 2,832 last year, of which 338 cases were filed under the now-defunct Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAC).
