The death toll from coronavirus rose to 75 in Bangladesh as the country confirmed 15 more deaths on Friday.
This is the largest single day death toll due to the virus in the country.
The tally of infections also soared to 1,838 after 266 people tested positive in the last 24 hours.
Heath Minister Zahid Maleque came up with the disclosure this afternoon joining the daily COVID-19 bulletin of the health directorate.
As many as 2,190 samples were tested during the period, the minister said, emphasising the importance of tests to check the spread of the virus.
Besides, nine corona patients made recovery, taking the total number of recoveries to 58.
Urging all to stay indoors at least until April 25, the minister expressed hope that Bangladesh would defeat the deadly coronavirus with united efforts.
IEDCR Director Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora, who currently remains in home-quarantine, later shared the details of the new patients through video conference.
Meanwhile, as of Friday, the global death toll from coronavirus reached 147,027, according to Worldometer, a website that provides real-time updates.
The virus has so far infected 2,190,303 people, including those who died, around the world, the data shows.
Again, of the infected, 1,489,604 are currently being treated, and 56,601 of them are now in critical condition.
The deadly coronavirus was first reported in China in December last year.
As the virus began sweeping across the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
