Seven more people died of the novel coronavirus disease, or COVID-19, in Bangladesh in the 24 hours to 8:00am on Sunday, raising the tally to 91.
Meanwhile, 312 others were diagnosed with COVID-19 during the same period, taking the number of such cases in the country to 2456, health and family welfare minister Zahid Maleque disclosed the information while briefing the media live on the daily health bulletin at 2:30pm.
Some 2634 samples were tested during the period under review, the minister said.
Besides, nine new patients made recovery in the past 24 hours, raising the tally of recovered patients to 75.
The country’s single-day highest number of coronavirus deaths and cases – 15 and 341 – were reported respectively on April 17 and 16.
Earlier on Saturday, nine more people died and 306 people tested positive for COVID-19.
Coronavirus, first reported in China, has so far infected 2,333,941 people globally and killed 160,820 of them, according to worldometer.info, a website that provides real-time updates.
Of the infected, 1,572,710 are currently being treated while 55,270 of them are in serious or critical condition, the website data shows.
As the virus began sweeping across the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
