Almost 800 dengue patients hospitalised in last 24 hours

As many as 793 people, infected with dengue, were hospitalised in the last 24 hours until 8:00am on Friday, according to government information.   

Of the total, 325 were admitted at hospitals in Dhaka while 468 were admitted at hospitals across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The highest number of patients, 61, was admitted at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

According to DGHS data, some 3,337 people currently are being treated for dengue of which 1,704 are in Dhaka alone.

The government agency also claims that 57 people have of the mosquito borne disease so far.

However, local media reports state that the number of deaths from dengue is as many as 190.

A total 75,164 patients had been hospitalised since January 1. Of them, 71,617 were discharged from hospital after recovery.

DGHS data showed that dengue infected started decreasing in September while August has already broken all previous records of dengue infection in a single month affecting 52,636 people.
