The Police Headquarters asked all expatriate returnees, who came to the country since March 01, to inform local police stations about their current addresses.
Even they have been asked to provide their phone numbers as they are not staying at their actual addresses and location which they mentioned in their passports, according to a press release issued by the Police Headquarters on Tuesday.
Legal actions will be taken against those who will not abide by the order, the statement reads.
If the expatriate Bangladeshis violate the direction, their passports will be suspended, it added.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the government announced on Monday a 10-point instruction, including general holiday for both public and private offices from March 26 to April 04.
However, the holidays will not be applicable for the government offices which deal with emergency services like fire-fighting, healthcare and law enforcement, Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam told a joint press briefing held at the secretariat in the city.
