Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) chairman Iqbal Mahmood has warned of legal action against the landlords who are asking physicians, nurses and other healthcare workers to vacate their houses during the coronavirus pandemic.
“The ACC will launch inquiry into the source of money of the house-owners who are forcing the doctors, nurses and other healthcare personnel to leave their rented residences,” he said on Thursday.
Responding to a reporters’ question in the capital, Mr Mahmood termed such eviction as a punishable offence under "The Communicable Diseases (Prevention, Control and Eradication) Act, 2018”.
If anybody violates this law, law enforcement agencies will take legal action against them, he vowed.
