Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood warned of stern action against the fraudsters who identify themselves as the ACC officials and employees.

His warning came after some ACC officials presented the matter to the ACC chairman about such frauds on Tuesday.

The ACC chairman said, “In different parts of the country, the fraudsters in the name of the ACC officials, employees and even the higher authorities of the commission or their relatives are threatening the government officials, employees, public representatives and others through mobile or telephone demanding unethical money.”

The commission has repeatedly taken legal action against the criminals. Some cheaters were arrested through the commission's own detectives, and even they were arrested and prosecuted with the help of the police or the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). Several cases are pending and under investigation to this end, Mr Mahmood stated.

The anti-graft watch agency chairman also urged the people to bring those fraudsters to the nearest police stations or RAB offices or the ACC local integrated district offices to bring the culprit to book.

The ACC chief also urged the people to inform such fraudulent activities to the ACC director (Intelligence) Mir Md. Zainul Abedin Shibli (Mobile No. 01711-644675) or the ACC Director (Public Relations) Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya (Mobile No. 01716-463276).

Everyone must come forward to take strict legal action against these fraudsters. The commission is committed to taking strict legal action against these fraudsters, Mr Iqbal added.
