A total of 861 people have died with Covid-19 like symptoms between March 8 and June 6 across the country, according to a report released on Thursday.
A project styled The Bangladesh Peace Observatory (BPO) under The Centre for Genocide Studies (CGS) of Dhaka University revealed the report.
Such deaths jumped by nearly 70 per cent in the last week compared to the previous week.
The report showed, as many as 124 people died from May 31 to June 6 due to the symptoms of coronavirus infection while the number stood at 73 in the week before.
The BPO has been publishing regular reports on a number of issues with the financial support from the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP).
Dhaka division reported 223 deaths with Covid-19 symptoms while death toll in Chattogram reached at 229 which was the highest among the eight divisions.
Mymensingh also recorded 27 deaths, the lowest among the divisions, the BPO report stated.
