At least 48 women were tortured to death for dowry alone in the first seven months of the calendar year, according to a local legal aid and rights body.
The Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK) report noted that apart from this, 60 women were physically tortured in the country from January to July 2020.
98 cases were filed in connection with the incidents, the data also revealed.
A total of 96 women were tortured to death in 2019 for dowry while it was 85 in 2018, the ASK added.
