Leaders of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) on Friday expressed deep concerns as 16 journalists, including nine in Dhaka alone, contracted coronavirus disease.
In a statement, DUJ President Quddus Afrad and General Secretary Sajjad Alam Khan Tapu said journalists along with their family members are getting infected with coronavirus, but they continue their professional duties risking their lives.
They urged the media owners to clear the arrears, including March salaries, for journalists.
The journalist leaders also said they will inform the authorities concerned and take the next course of action if salaries for the month of March are not cleared by the third week of April, reports UNB.
