Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Friday found Aedes larvae in 147 houses and establishments and fined Tk 307,000 on the seventh day of its combing operation.
Earlier, DNCC launched a '10-day combing operation' on June 06 to prevent the breeding of Aedes mosquito responsible for causing dengue fever.
The drive runs from 10:00am to 1:00pm every day.
During the operation, mobile courts levied fines on the owners of the houses and establishments in 19 cases as they found Aedes larvae there.
A total of 13,773 houses, establishments and under-construction buildings in 54 wards were inspected and larvae were found in 147 of them.
In addition, a total of 9,762 structures had a suitable environment for the breeding of Aedes mosquito.
Those areas were cleaned by DNCC cleaners. Workers also used mosquito repellents.
Owners of other homes also were warned.
Aedes larvae were found in abandoned tyre, bucket, flower tub, bottle, water meter, garage, water hose, earthen pot, broken mug, house floor, water tank, plastic container and roof drain.
The larvae were also spotted in yoghurt pot, abandoned commode, coconut shell, pot, basement and space between two houses.
Pesticides were sprayed on breeding grounds and the city-dwellers asked to be vigilant to Aedes.
Under the ongoing campaign, every ward has been divided into 10 sectors and each sector into 10 subsectors to help facilitate the campaign.
