A total of 12 prisoners died in jails across the country from January to April in 2019, according to an independent rights body.
Of them, nine were under trial prisoners while three others convicted, according to a report of Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK).
Of them, one convicted prisoner and three other under trial prisoners died at Dhaka Central Jail.
Three under trial prisoners died at Chittragram Central Jail, it added.
A total of 74 prisoners died in custody across the country in 2018. Of them, 45 were under trials and 29 were convicts, ASK said in its report.
