One dead, five injured after fire hits Chattogram shipyard

A man was killed and five others were injured after a fire broke out at a shipyard in Chattogram’s Sitakunda Upazila.

The incident occurred at the Premier Trade Corporation Shipyard in the Upazila’s Bar Aulia at around 8:30am on Wednesday, reports bdnews24.

Workers were breaking up a ship when the fire started at a room near its engine, Harun Pasha, an official of the Kumira Fire Station, said.

Informed of the incident, a fire service team was dispatched to the scene and brought the flames under control, he said.
