Japan to provide 12b grant to GCC for power generation

Japan will help Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) to produce electricity from wastage, said mayor Md Jahangir Alam.
Talking to reporters at Nagar Bhaban, the mayor said Japan will provide Tk 12 billion loan for the project.
An agreement has been signed between Japanese city Hamamatsu Mayor Yasutomo Suzuki and GCC Mayor Jahangir Alam in this regard.
“Keeping the city clean is a big challenge. The city corporation took the initiative to minimise the hazards and produce energy from waste materials,” Alam said on Tuesday.
It will be possible to produce electricity from this project within next one year, he added, reports UNB.
