74 prisoners die in custody in 2018: ASK

A total of 74 prisoners died while in custody in the country, according to an independent rights body.
Of them, 45 were undertrials and 29 convicts, Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) said in a report published recently.
In Dhaka division alone, 31 prisoners - 20 undetrials and 11 convicts - died and the rest 43 in seven other divisions, it noted.
According to government data, the number of prisoners stood at 93,965 as of January 11 this year.
