5.1-magnitude earthquake hits Dhaka

An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 shook the capital and other parts of the country on Sunday afternoon.

The epicentre of the moderate earthquake was in the region of India-Myanmar border, about 279 km East of capital Dhaka, said Abdul Hamid, meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The tremor was felt at 4:46pm, said the official.

However, no causalities were reported.
