5.0-magnitude quake hits off southern Myanmar

A 5.0 magnitude earthquake rattled Myanmar's southern coast on Thursday, said the meteorology and hydrology department.

The quake struck at 9:10 am local time (0240 GMT), reports Xinhua.

Its epicenter was 259 km southwest of Yangon's Kaba Aye seismological observatory.

No further details about the temblor are released so far.
